POLICY

The Moffat Library of Washingtonville seeks to:

1. Provide a safe environment for the public, the staff, and the library materials, equipment and facilities.
2. Provide equal access to and use of library facilities and services.

REGULATIONS FOR LIBRARY USE:

Unruly Behavior:
When the behavior of a patron constitutes a disruption which interferes with the use of the library by other patrons or when a patron’s behavior constitutes a disruption which interferes with a staff member’s completion of his/her duties, the following steps will be taken:

1. Issue a verbal warning, with the statement that the person(s) will be asked to leave if the behavior in question does not cease.
2. Request that the person(s) leave the library.
3. Call the police.

Unattended Children
Parents/guardians are responsible for the behavior of their children in the library. The library is a controlled environment and is not equipped for child care. In order to provide for the general welfare of all persons using the library, and in order to provide for the general safety of children using the library, children should be attended and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
