Book Discussions

Mystery and Suspense Book Club

Group meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.


Wish You Were Here by Rita Mae Brown. Tuesday, August 18th at 7pm.

Tee Tucker (a Corgi) and Mrs. Murphy (a gray tiger cat) utilize their superior detective abilities to determine who sends macabre post cards to the next murder victim. These sleuths must throw clues at the dense humans who try to solve the mystery before becoming the next corpse. The witty dialogue of humans and pets enables readers to know and identify with the unique residents in small-town America, and the attractive line drawings depict the industrious animal detectives. Books available starting Wednesday, July 16th @ the library.


The Mystery Suspense Book Club will be suspended for Autumn. Stay tuned for information regarding this program.




Great Beginnings Book Discussion Group

Group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm. Books are available about one month prior to discussion. Registration is required and space is limited.



At Home In Mitford by Jan Karon. Wednesday, August 13th, 2008, 7:30 p.m.

Readers everywhere have discovered Mitford is good for the soul. Peopled with a lovable cast of characters and filled with mysteries and miracles, Mitford has become one of the most memorable small towns in recent literature. Books available starting Thursday, July12th @ the library.








Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. Wednesday, September 10th, 2008, 7:30 p.m.

Author Erik Larson imbues the incredible events surrounding the 1893 Chicago World's Fair with such drama that readers may find themselves checking the book's categorization to be sure that The Devil in the White City is not, in fact, a highly imaginative novel. Larson tells the stories of two men: Daniel H. Burnham, the architect responsible for the fair's construction, and H.H. Holmes, a serial killer masquerading as a charming doctor. Books available starting Thursday, August 14th @ the library.





The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Wednesday, October 15th, 2008, 7:00 p.m.

Note: Group will meet on the 3rd Wednesday of October and 1/2 hour earlier than usual.
